Preparation Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 15 minutes Serves: 4-6

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Biscuits for serving (Pillsbury Grands FROZEN biscuits or your preferred biscuits)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Sausage:

  • In a large pan or skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until it’s browned and crumbled. Do not drain the grease.

2. Add Flour:

  • Sprinkle the 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour evenly over the cooked sausage.
  • Stir well until the flour is fully incorporated and you cannot see any white flour.

3. Pour in Milk:

  • Gradually pour in the 2 cups of milk while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  • Keep stirring until the mixture is well combined and begins to thicken.

4. Season:

  • Add salt and pepper to taste. Be sure to taste the gravy and adjust the seasoning as needed.

5. Simmer and Thicken:

  • Continue cooking the gravy over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it comes to a gentle boil with bubbles appearing.
  • Once it begins to boil, reduce the heat to low and allow the gravy to simmer. It will continue to thicken as it simmers. This may take around 5-10 minutes.

6. Serve with Biscuits:

  • While the gravy simmers, prepare your biscuits according to the package instructions. If you’re using frozen biscuits, bake them as directed.

7. Plate and Enjoy:

  • To serve, split the biscuits in half and ladle the hot sausage gravy over the top.
  • Enjoy your delicious homemade Sausage Gravy and Biscuits!
