grew up with green beans, potatoes, and ham. So I decided to give a fun twist to this favorite family dish. I’ve always wanted to try bacon as part of the ham and what better way to cook this recipe than in a slow cooker!
I am happy to report that this recipe was enjoyed by the whole family. I was able to use vegetarian bacon to make this vegetarian dish enjoyable for Darryl, and it also turned out to be excellent. This quick and easy side is perfect for any family occasion.
“I often make this dish; I’ve never really measured the ingredients, but I can give you a reasonable approximation. Note: Freeze leftover cooking liquid and then add it to bean soup, ham, or cabbage dishes, or use it to cook meatballs. It’s delicious!”
To make this recipe, you will need the following ingredients:
2 lbs ham hock
2-3 large russet potatoes peeled and chopped into two-inch pieces
16 oz green beans frozen or fresh
1 lb cubed ham steak optional
